Osteoplasty is a procedure that reshapes or recontours the bone around teeth, often to prepare the jaw for dental implants or to remove irregularities that may cause discomfort or hinder proper dental function.
Gingivoplasty (Soft Tissue Recontouring)
Gingivoplasty is the surgical reshaping of the gum tissue to create a more aesthetically pleasing appearance or to remove excess gum tissue that can trap bacteria and lead to periodontal disease.

Dental Team
In addition to completing an undergraduate degree and a doctorate, dental professionals who want to become periodontists must undergo an extra three years of training to earn their Certificate in Periodontics. Our highly qualified periodontists also invest many additional hours into staying on top of the latest developments in periodontics to provide exceptional care every day.
Dr. Phillips is a Clinical Professor of Periodontics at IUSD, a past president of the Indiana Dental Association, and has authored several scientific articles on periodontics and dental Implantology. Dr. Ferry is also a Clinical Adjunct Assistant Professor of Periodontics at IUSD as well as a member of the Spear Study Club.
